ePassporte Abandons U.S. Players
Sometime in the last 24 hours ePassporte quietly stopped allowing poker related transactions. An email from Cake Poker was my only notification. “We have received notice from ePassporte today that they are unable to continue to provide CakePoker with merchant e-wallet services. We have since confirmed that this situation is not unique to CakePoker and is, in fact, industry wide.”
Initially I hoped it wasn’t really industry wide, but unfortunately after checking several other poker room cashiers the total abandonment was confirmed. Absolute still shows them as a withdrawal option, but this is probably just a delay in updating the website. So far there is no word from ePassporte as to why this decision was made, but you can bet (no pun intended) it’s probably due to the “Land of Liberty” restricting the liberties of it’s free citizens.
Kudos to Cake for keeping it’s players up to date. They’re the only ones I’ve heard from so far. ePassporte’s website looks exactly the same and while everyone else just quietly removed the option from their software. Luckily I only have a balance of $2 in my ePassporte account, but for those of you with more I’d process a withdrawal immediately. Good Luck to all…
