Moving on Up
Going against everything the training sites recommend, I decided to move up a level to see how I fared. My theory was that even though I was playing within my bankroll at .10/.25, I was playing against some real crackpots. On numerous occasions I’ve had good cards cracked by opponents playing unbelievable hands. Even in the face of aggressive raises these guys stick around against ridiculous odds to eventually suck out on the river. I realize moving up to .25/.50 isn’t climbing too high up the ladder, but the stacks do look a little more intimidating so I’m hoping that will keep a few of the hacks away.
In the back of my mind, I’m not crazy about jumping before I have the recommended (20x) bankroll. I told myself when I started this push that I was going to follow the rules I’d seen laid out on CardRunners. However, I’m optimistic about this jump. In the short time I’ve been playing at .25/.50 the play has seemed a lot more sane. I’ve taken a couple of big beats, but I deserved to lose the hands. At least when the cards were turned up I could see why they played the hand and had to look at my own reasons for being there. Currently I’m a small loser at the new stakes, but based on my last few sessions things seem to be going in the right direction. Only time will tell.
